The Ruben Holloway Scholarship Foundation was established in 1998 in memory of a man who recognized the value of education and the importance of community. Deacon Ruben Holloway had no more than a sixth grade education due to the limited opportunity available to him.

As an adult, he raised 10 children and on most days worked 14 to 16 hours. However, Deacon Holloway managed to find time to make education a priority. He was certified in carpentry from North Mississippi Vocational School and received a graduate certificate from Calvary Bible Institute. His educational motivation was not driven by employment opportunity or job advancement; it was the desire to learn so that he could share his knowledge with his family. He was deeply grounded in the philosophy of God, family and education as the bond to a self-fulfilling life.

In honor of his legacy and philosophy, the Ruben Holloway Scholarship Foundation has been able to help students pay for educational expenses. For more than 20 years, the scholarship foundation has made contributions to more than 50 students.
